If you're interested in beadwork as more than just a hobby, but also as a potential means of putting money in your pocket, then picking the right projects to focus on can greatly influence your success or failure. Below are some of the more popular profitable niches inside the expansive hobby that is bead craft.
Matched Sets: The upshot of these beadwork projects is that the field is somewhat less crowded and thus, easier to enter than other areas. It's one thing to whip out a pair of earrings, but to create a matching ensemble is quite an undertaking. Definitely an advanced undertaking, even if the designs are relatively simple. On the plus side, you can generally charge a premium for matched sets, but this is balanced by the fact that they are slower to produce. If you want to make enough for sustainable profits, it is imperative that you streamline processes and keep your designs simple, yet original.

When making a cheap necklace with beads collect some beading thread and be sure to add three more inches than the desired length in order to give yourself some room to work with and gather your beads. You will be able to find a wide variety of beads of differing shapes, sizes and designs in the market. You may also want to use some spacer beads to distinguish them from normal beads, these help give an attractive design to any jewellery. In addition to the beads, thread and spacers you wil need a clasp and two bead tips which are needed to secure the ends of your necklace. When you have all these materials at hand you are ready to begin making your cheap bead necklace.

Once you have all the tools and materials, you will want to place beads on 2 headpins (though you can use multiple headpins on each earwire, for your first pair I recommend one for each earwire) fashion jewelry. Be sure to leave room for closing it off. I usually leave at least 1/2 inch left on the headpin for closing it. You may want to leave a full inch for your first pair.
To close the headpin, making a loop with round nosed pliers and then twisting the wire around the loop will make a more professional and secure closing than just making a loop. No more lost earring parts! It looks much nicer too.
Now attach the headpin to the earwire by closing it's premade loop. I use tweezers for closing his loop.
If you are wanting to sell your earrings, you will want to put them on a backing of sorts. A business card works nicely (make holes with a safety pin after measuring). To secure the earrings on the card, ...

The best beading wire is made of a inner core of steel of differing strengths and thicknesses with intertwined threads of nylon, it is the strongest option for threading and of course the thickest is the strongest but it does have its weak point which is knotting. The thicker the beading wire as well and the more expensive it will be, the trick is to budget your expenses and costs to produce. Because of its steel structure beading wire tends to be inflexible therefore crimp beads are a necessity here. otherwise you will simply end up with kinks which will in time shred the nylon from within and set you off on a jolly race all over the floor to collect your beads, or even worse still your customers will have this job to do. Since they are very strong though you will have to put in considerable effort to break them under normal conditions.
Long ago the wire to use for beading was called tiger tail; it was usually made with three s...
